With a heart to reawaken the pioneering spirit of Canadian young people, in 2003 a small group of international YWAMers invited youth from around the globe to join them in a 40-day trip across Canada. Sensing from the Lord that he wanted to try to "Wake Up" the nation of Canada and challenge YWAM Canada, they called this trip the "Wake Tour". The response? Sixty people traveled to 21 cities from Victoria, BC to St. John's, NL with a creative presentation at each venue as well as a special challenge from Frank Naea who was YWAM's President at the time. It was an historic and life-changing trip with many coming away with a new measure of faith and a broader understanding of God's heart for the nation of Canada. Later trips to Northern Canada in 2006 and 2008 completed this tour across the country.

It is because of this journey, that YWAM Nexia was birthed.

While we are based in beautiful Vancouver, BC on the west coast of Canada, we are a diverse group of individuals from various nations with many years of missions experience both in Canada and abroad, living in various cities across the nation of Canada. Our desire is to participate with God's mission on earth in order see people of all ages, genders and backgrounds have a life-changing encounter with the living God. This is why YWAM Nexia exists!  We are passionate about our God and making Him known throughout Canada and the world. We have a heart to train up young people and mobilize them to GO! "Nexia" comes from the word "Nexus" which means "connection". The connecting, or "networking" of two or more ideas, people or things. YWAM Nexia operates as a "network", rather than a typical YWAM "base", which is more restricted by "geography". We are more fluid and have staff in many cities/towns across the country. But we are all working together towards our common goal:

Our goal is to mobilize 300,000 people to go into cities, so that by 2020 YWAM Canada will have established 300 new city-focused initiatives with 2,400 long-term workers.

We are doing this through training, staff/leadership development, mobilization and networking!
