YWAM Nexia DTS Leaves For Outreach - Malaysia & Thailand Here We Come - December 4th, 2011

After a good but challenging 12 weeks of lecture phase and fun, our 13 YWAM Nexia DTS staff and students blasted off today from the Vancouver International Airport bound for Bangkok, Thailand. Following a brief overnight stay in Bangkok with YWAM Thailand, they will take the train down to Penang, Malasia to begin a month of outreach with YWAM Penang.

Please pray for our team as they go - for safety as they travel and most importantly, that God would use them mightly to bless those around them. Please check here for regular updates!

It's A Pot Luck- October 29, 2011, 6:00pm - 3367 Hall Rd, Kelowna, BC

Attention all YWAM Alumni in the Okanagan area! It's time to get together again. Please invite any/all friends who have ever been involved with YWAM to a pot luck dinner at 3367 Hall Rd, Kelowna at 6pm Sat Oct 29.

It's A Picnic - October 1, 2011, 11:30am - 3:00pm - Heritage School - Kelowna, BC

All YWAMers past and present (once a YWAMer always a YWAMer) are invited to a picnic in Kelowna on October 1, 2011, 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for an afternoon of fun and fellowship. Meet old friends. Make new friends. Swap stories. Laugh together. Pray together. Set the date on your calendar! Tell your friends.

The picnic will be held at Heritage School, behind Kelowna Christian Centre. If it rains, the picnic will be in the school's gym.

Please note: everyone coming should bring their own lunch. (And chairs or blankets.)

Please invite all YWAMers you know whether they have done a DTS somewhere in the world, served on staff or even been on a short-term outreach. Let's get together!

Member Care Network Meetings - Sept 10th, 2011 and May 2012

Recently, YWAM Nexia hosted a multi-agency Member Care consultation and training in Banff, AB and from that week a number of Member Care initiatives were birthed.

Two of these initiatives are local:
(a) Partnering together, YWAM Nexia and CanIL want to develop a Member Care Network in the Lower Mainland to provide a forum for member care providers from agencies, mission organizations and churches to meet and share resources, learn and grow.
(b) The other initiative is a two week Member Care training course to be held in May 2012 here in the Lower Mainland.

We are planning the first Member Care Network meeting:
* 9am to 11am Saturday September 10th 2011.
* In the meeting room at the ABC Country Restaurant on the corner of 192nd Street and Hwy #10 in Cloverdale (close to Langley).
This will be an informal meeting to get to know one another and to talk more about pursuing the way forward in working together.

Member Care Consultation & Training - Banff, Alberta - June 5-10th, 2011

YWAM Nexia is hosting a Member Care Consultation and Training in Banff from June 5th to 10th, 2011. It begins with a 3-day Consultation to share what is being done in Canada in member care within YWAM and in other organizations, to assess member care needs at your ministry location, and to share ideas for sharing of resources and moving forward in member care in Canada.

GO Conference 2010 - The Report

The GO Conference this year was full of sights and sounds - both of the beauty of the peoples and nations of Southeast Asia, Central Asia and China, and of the pain and suffering linked to the injustice occurring around the world. YWAMers from BC, AB, SK, Oregon and Wisconsin, including students from three DTSs and a Basic Leadership School came together for the week to worship the Father of all nations and to learn about the needs of the world. Each morning we gathered in worship, led by Peter and Josanna Justine, and responded to God in intercession - asking for His kingdom to come to the ends of the earth. Angela Ruhland, a YWAM staff from Pattaya, Thailand shared stories about her work with women and children in the slums. A team from YWAM Salem presented an exhibit, Experiencing Injustice, providing opportunity for participants to come face to face with areas of global injustice.
