YWAM Nexia Staff Internship Update
May-July 2011 Update - Time is Flying
Shortly after returning from Southeast Asia, Heidi and I participated in YWAM Nexia’s annual retreat. During this week, we met with team members from the greater Nexia team from as far away as Nova Scotia. We gathered in worship and prayer and sought God’s direction for us as YWAM Nexia. It is great to reflect on the big picture of our purpose and connect together in community.

It was a joy and privilege to help with a YWAM alumni gathering and a missions gathering with founder Loren Cunningham as the guest speaker. After Loren signed one of his books that Heidi had purchased, Heidi approached Loren with a YWAM Canada postcard featuring a picture of her. “Here, I signed this for you,” Heidi said.
Taking the postcard, Loren laughed and asked, “How much did you charge for them to use your picture?” It is amazing to be part of a large organization like YWAM with such down-to-earth leaders.
In order to add more “tools” to our belt, Heidi and I participated in a wonderful week of DTS staff training in Saskatoon, SK. We looked at what it means to be a successful disciple discipling others. We also went through the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course. This was a one week intensive missions course with much preliminary reading. The course serves as a comprehensive overview on Christianity and missions focusing on past history, present progress and the future task remaining.
Now, in preparation for the upcoming Discipleship Training School (DTS) in September, we have been looking for student and staff housing as well as a classroom for the school. A highlight for me has been praying every morning for the accepted and potential students as we anticipate God’s transformation in all our lives.
